Edible food surpluses are shared with staff at Wintercircus, cutting waste and valuing every meal. g.
Within Wintercircus, the aim is to maximise the valorisation of all prepared products. Edible food surpluses that can no longer be offered to guests, but are still entirely safe and of good quality, are made available internally to staff members. Rather than discarding meals that meet every standard but fall outside the service window, Wintercircus channels them back into its own team. In this way, food waste is limited and a contribution is made to a more sustainable operation, while staff benefit from quality meals that would otherwise be lost.
Sustainability added value: Redirecting surplus food to staff prevents fully edible meals from ending up as waste, directly cutting the environmental footprint of catering, including the CO₂, water, and land use embedded in producing, transporting, and preparing that food. It also reduces residual waste volumes and disposal costs, and embeds an everyday culture of valorisation among the people working at Wintercircus, turning food waste prevention into a shared, visible practice rather than a top-down policy.
