The Wintercircus is a fully smoke-free building. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the venue, in line with both legal requirements and the wider commitment to a healthy environment for visitors and staff. Notably, the Wintercircus has also chosen not to install cigarette bins or ashtray columns at the entrance. The underlying principle is straightforward: anyone who chooses to smoke is also expected to take responsibility for their own cigarette butts, and not rely on the venue to clean up after them.
Sustainability added value: Cigarette butts are the most littered item worldwide and one of the most polluting, leaching toxins and microplastics into soil and waterways for years after being dropped. By removing the visual invitation of an ashtray at the door, the Wintercircus actively shifts responsibility back to smokers and signals that personal accountability is part of being a respectful visitor.
