In the events sector, hearing protection is essential to prevent damage for both visitors and staff.
The BMCC integrates this into its prevention policy and informs organisers of legal requirements:
-
For sound levels above 95 dB(A), organisers are legally required to provide free earplugs.
-
Using music-filter ear protection (15–20 dB attenuation) is the recommended solution.
-
Security or stewards help ensure visitors stay at least two metres from speakers to maintain safe sound levels.
-
BMCC staff wear hearing protection at events with loud music.
-
Sound levels are continuously measured and logged.
