The BMCC holds its in-house caterers to strict packaging standards. Ingredients must be delivered or packaged in reusable or recyclable materials, additional packaging is kept to a minimum, and single-use plastics are strictly prohibited.
Caterers are further encouraged to follow the Lansink hierarchy — prioritising prevention, reuse and recycling over disposal — and to comply with current legislation on catering materials.
Sustainability added value: Catering is one of the primary sources of packaging waste at events.
By making responsible packaging a contractual requirement for all in-house caterers, the BMCC ensures that waste reduction is embedded into every event from the kitchen outward — reducing landfill impact and setting a clear, consistent standard that suppliers are accountable to.
