Sensory-Friendly Space

Flanders CVB created a dedicated sensory-friendly space within the eventvenue, clearly communicated to attendees on-site.

Such a space benefits not only people with autism, but anyone who can experience sensory overload: young children, older adults, highly sensitive people, those with ADHD, anxiety disorders, epilepsy, dementia, chronic illness or burn-out, as well as people going through a period of grief. Every person processes overstimulation differently — and a calm, low-stimulation space makes a meaningful difference for a far broader audience than one might expect.

Sustainability added value: Providing a sensory-friendly space and communicating it clearly is a simple but powerful act of social inclusion.    By anticipating the diverse sensory needs of attendees and making a quiet retreat available to all, the organiser ensures that participation in the event is genuinely accessible — regardless of how an individual experiences the world around them.
